Scholarship Opportunities

As a Club member or alum, you may qualify for scholarships to attend the college of your choice. Many different kinds of scholarships exist, and eligibility requirements can vary based upon your cumulative GPA, ACT or SAT scores, and course performance.

One example of a dedicated scholarship opportunity is Schwab’s Money Matters Scholarship. As a Club member you are eligible to apply for one of 10 available $1,000 scholarships and may qualify for one $5,000 scholarship. Eligibility is based upon your ability to effectively communicate how participating in the Money Matters program has 1) impacted your life, 2) helped you gain new financial skills, and 3) assisted in planning for your future. On-Campus Experiences

Deciding which college to attend is a big decision and can be a little unsettling. If you are anxious about what to expect when you go to college, BGCA offers on-campus experiences to help you become more comfortable with the college-going culture. Held on college campuses, these opportunities are designed for Club members (7th through 12th grade) to experience college life through one-day, two-day or week-long experiences.

For example, Brandeis University in Massachusetts offers multiple on-campus summer experiences. Their prestigious Global Youth Summit on the Future of Medicine offers eligible rising high school juniors and seniors a behind-the-scenes perspective of 21st-century healthcare. During this seven-day overnight program, delegates to the Summit can expect to gain insights through experiential learning, guest lectures from cutting-edge medical professionals, and unparalleled networking opportunities with leaders and innovators in the global medical community. This opportunity, valued at $2,980, is available to two to five Club members. Click here or the On-Campus Experiences link above to learn more about Brandeis and other available summer experiences, and to submit applications.

Tuition Slots

Many young people are faced with financial obstacles when pursuing a college degree. Great news! Various colleges have set aside dedicated tuition slots specifically for Boys & Girls Club members and alumni. If eligible, you can apply to receive free- or reduced-priced tuition (not including room and board) at participating colleges and universities.

For example, you may be a high school senior or Club alum with your heart set on Indiana’s Trine University. With an active Boys & Girls Club membership (or enrollment in Alumni & Friends), a GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale, and a minimum ACT score of 21 or SAT score of 1100, you can apply for one of two available slots. If selected, your tuition costs will be covered while you pursue a degree. Click here or the Tuition Slots link above to learn more about Trine University and other available tuition slots, and to submit applications.
